DECISION TREE - This is the main body of Howard's 2004 presentations. Includes analysis of the reasons for digitizing, best practices, scanner selection, productivity calculations, getting outside bids and comparing in-house costs to quotes from outside vendors.

COLOR MANAGEMENT - Basics of color management for the institutional environment.

HIRING A PHOTOSHOP TECH - There have been many requests for this "tongue-in-cheek" article by Howard Brainen. Gives a step-by-step procedure for defining the job that needs to be done, testing applicants' skills, and a scoring system for the test. Technology described now outdated but the basic analysis still works fine.

IMAGE INVENTORY - This is an Excel file we provide to clients to help them assess what they have to digitize.

VRA members are encouraged to check back here for more articles and notes.
